Portland Pirate's Goals for Success ProgramThe Portland Pirates and Gorham Savings Bank have partnered to sponsor the Goals for Success Program for the 9th straight season! The objective of the program is to educate students in grades 3-6 about the importance of setting goals, both in athletics as well as in life. The program now also incorporates Let’s Go!’s 5-2-1-0 message, emphasizing a healthy lifestyle in order to achieve goals. Over the course of the last eight seasons, more than 22,000 children have participated in the Pirates Goals for Success Program.

The program involves a 35 minute presentation by a member of the Pirates front office as well as Pirates players that incorporates video from the Pirates’ cooking class at Southern Maine Community College earlier in the season, and a quick physical activity break. The presentation concludes with a short meet and greet with the players as well as an autograph session. The Goals for Success program requires use of a school’s auditorium as well as a projector or DVD player. The Pirates request that at least 100 students be in attendance for the assembly, but this is not a requirement.
