The RSU 20 Wellness Committee recently sponsored a Spring Into Health Challenge. Schools and individuals were challenged to log 20 hours of exercise between March 1 and April 30.

Four schools participated, East Belfast School, Searsport Elementary School, Frankfort Elementary School and Belfast Area High School. The winning school, the one with the highest percentage of participation, would receive an RSU 20 Healthy Staff, Healthy School banner to hang in their school.

There was also an opportunity for the schools to earn extra points for incorporating school-wide activities and healthy staff snacks.

Besides the four schools, there were also individual competitors, which increased the number of competitors to 140. Challengers received weekly health tips/information about local wellness events.

The winning school was Frankfort Elementary School with 14 participants.

The names of those completing the exercise log were entered into a drawing for five $25 gift certificates to local businesses. The winners were:

  • Tamber Faunce of Frankfort Elementary School
  • Christy Baker of Frankfort Elementary School
  • Kelly Gatcomb of Frankfort Elementary School
  • Dana Swift of BCOPE
  • Ted Pellerin of Belfast Area High School
